Blurb:
Ryan Steel is known in Snow Creek as the handsomest Steel brother with the most jovial personality. Now that his busy grape harvest and winemaking season is over, he’s happy to spend time with his family and help his brothers, Talon and Jonah, celebrate their impending nuptials. The Steels are taking a well-deserved break from the conspiracy surrounding them…until an unlikely woman and a long-buried secret shatter Ryan’s world.
Detective Ruby Lee has been on her own since she was fifteen. When her past collides with the Steel family’s mysteries, she’s determined to find the truth. She has her own issues, and she’s not looking for a relationship, despite her all-consuming attraction to Ryan Steel. The gorgeous dark-haired man gets under her skin anyway…and he needs her.
Together they explore both of their histories, but those pasts could cost them a future.
My Review:
5 stars (I wish I could give it 10 stars)
(You need to read the first 6 books to understand what is going on in this book. But trust me, once you start, you won’t be able to stop.)
Holy mother of God!!!
Helen, you are an evil genius!
This book will “shatter” your heart and leave you wanting more.
Words cannot describe what I just read and how I felt while reading it but I’ll try my best to express my thoughts.
In this book, we follow Ryan, the youngest Steel brother, and Ruby, a detective and Theodore Mathias’s daughter.
Ryan Steel is the most handsome Steel brother. He has the best personality and enjoys life. His brothers are getting married in Jamaica and he is about to go on a great vacation, but one phone call changes everything. One phone call saying “Ryan, my darling. This is your mother.” The problem is, Ryan’s mother killed herself years ago and there is no way she can be alive, is there?
With everything that has happened with his family, Ryan just wants to be able to enjoy his vacation and celebrate with his brothers. When he finds out that Detective Ruby Lee is joining them on this family trip, he thinks he can get some answers from her. But he ended up getting more than he every expected.
Detective Ruby Lee is out of her element when she is around the Steel family. Being on her own since she was 15, she has worked hard for everything she has. When she is invited on the Steel family trip, she is nervous but goes because she doesn’t want to let her friend Melanie down, Jonah’s fiancée. What Ruby doesn’t expect is the connection she will have with Ryan Steel.
Ryan is gorgeous and sweet and Ruby has no idea why he is attracted to her. She doesn’t dress up, she wears no make-up, but Ryan seems interested in her. Maybe it’s just because of her father but the more she is around him, the more she feels that it is something more. Something is she is not used to.
They both have a past. A past that is connected thought their families.
What happens when the past returns?
What happens when you find out everything you have ever known could be a lie?
Can Ryan and Ruby survive when the past comes back to life or will it tear them apart?
HOLY COW!!!
The information you find out about Talon’s abduction and what was really going on with the Future Lawmaker’s Club will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Plus, the two phone calls at the end of the book……O-MY-LANTA!!!
I could not put this book down once I started it.
This book has a different vibe than the other books. I felt that this book wasn’t as dark in some ways. (Trust me, it has it’s dark parts.)
I absolutely loved Ryan. Ryan is more carefree than Talon and Jonah. He is more of the go-with-the-flow brother. He might be my new favorite brother. He has such a kind, giving heart and he only wants what is best for everyone around him.
When it comes to Ruby, she is a damaged soul but she is strong and with the right person, Ryan, she can move on from her past.
They are connected though what happened to Talon but they will also become connected in other ways (You’ll have to read to find out!)
