Blurb:
Do you know what it feels like right before lightning strikes? How you can feel the current running through your veins? The trembles of warning that ripple through the air? It was a thrill Tamar King chased all her life until it became the very thing she had to escape.
For the last four years, Tamar King has hidden herself in an isolated world she created. She was safe. No one could touch her. Until Lyrik West walked through her door.
He’s the lead guitarist for Sunder and everything she can never have. The dark and beautiful rock star becomes everything she craves.
Lyrik’s life has been devoted to his band and that success has cost him. Bitter, hard, and filled with regret, he refuses to lose himself again, but from the moment he sees her, he wants one night with Tamar King.
The gorgeous bartender is more than he bargained for. Their attraction is consuming. Their desire overpowering. With one touch, they ignite.
But is it worth the cost of getting burned?
She’s a gorgeous nightmare and he’s a wicked dream…
My Review:
Tamar and Lyrik are like oil and water. Always going at it but never actually going at it. They have a love/hate relationship. Lyrik loves messing with her and she loves to hate him for it.
Tamar is hiding. Hiding from herself and hiding from her past. She has made herself in to different person and thinks that if she keeps to herself, no-one will ever see the real her.
Lyrik is a rockstar. Always partying, always hooking up, but always alone.
“I will never fall in love again. Not ever again. Not after tonight.”
Tamar has a fear of Lyrik. Has he ever done anything for her to have this fear? No. But Lyrik makes her feel things she swore to herself she would never feel again.
When Lyrik becomes Tamar’s neighbor, things take a turn. They agree on two months. Two months of whatever happens between then happens and after that they spilt ways. Both Lyrik and Tamar are battling demons from their pasts and they both think that they can never love again.
After a while, Tamar knows she is falling for Lyrik. It scares her but there is nothing she can do about it. Just when she thinks he’s starting to get close to her, to break down some of this walls, he does something that shows he is not ready for love.
“And I wondered if I was wired wrong. If I gravitated toward assholes and manipulators and those who would only bring me pain.”
But even with their battles, even with them both being scared of love, they both start to open up to each other. To give each other the strength they need to overcome their demons.
“If my heart was mine to give, I’d give it to you”
But what happens when words are said they can’t be unsaid? What happens when feelings get involved and hearts get broken? What happens when you finally face your past? Will you survive or will the demons of the past win?
WHAT A STORY!!!
I loved the first two book in this series, A Stone in the Sea and Drowning to Breathe. I was excited to read Lyrik’s story. I knew he would take me on a wild ride and he did.
Lyrik is loyal. If he makes a promise, he keeps it, even if it hurts. Tamar is scared. Scared of her past and scared of the future.
When the two of them combine….it’s like playing with fire and ice. They are hot and cold. They love and they hate. They take and they give.
This story was deep. I wasn’t expecting how deep this story would go but I loved it.
A.L. Jackson defiantly did not disappoint with this book and I’m excited to see where the other stories take me.

Tempting.
