Keep It Classy

Ghosts are real.
Well, technically speaking, maybe not. But the ones that haunt a man’s soul? Those are very real. So real, in fact, that there are times when Castiel would rather silence them forever in the worst way possible than to go on living with them haunting his every step.
All it took was one single second in time for his attention to drift, and everything changed.
Life as he once knew it, is over.
Now he’s struggling to make sense of the pieces that are left, and he’s fairly sure at least half of them are missing.
He’s living for three things now.
His club—the Bear Bottom Guardians.
His work as a police officer for Bear Bottom Police Department.
And the occasional glimpse of a girl that makes his spirit feel free.
Despite the ghosts that haunt him, he’s not willing to present them with another target. Which is why he has to stay away from her. He can’t touch her. He can’t talk to her. He can’t get anywhere near her.
Not and live with himself afterward.
The only problem is, Turner doesn’t care what Castiel wants. She also has a solution for his ghosts.
You may call her Ms. Ghostbuster.

My Review: 5 stars

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!! The feels in this book!!!
I have been waiting to Liner’s story for what seems like forever now and it did not disappoint.
Turner and Castiel have not gotten along since they first time they met each other, when Castiel gave Turner a speeding ticket.
As you read you learn that both Turner and Castiel have not had the easiest lives, for different reasons.
When the pieces of life get thrown together, Castiel becomes Turners rock. He is there for her.
But is their new connection enough to survive what life is going to through at them.
This book is probably the most emotional book I have read in a long time. I absolutely balled my eyes out in this book. The topic Lani talks about hits very near to my heart. I have no idea how she wrote some of those scenes but they were wonderful!
Throw in a strange man around town and you have yourself an amazing book.
This book completely killed my emotions!!!!
I really, really loved this book. I could tell Lani put her heart into this book.
Defiantly a 5 star read for me.

The Story of Us

How much can a man take before he breaks?
1,843 days. That’s how long I survived in that hellhole. They tried to break me, but I resisted. And I owe it all to the memory of warm summer nights, the scent of peaches, and the one woman who loved me more than I ever deserved to be loved. Now, I’ll do anything to get back to her.
Only Shelby Eubanks isn’t the girl I left behind all those years ago. She’s someone else, a stranger. My Shelby-my little green-eyed firecracker-would never give up her dreams, would never disappear into her mother’s ambitions. But I won’t give up on her. On us. I may be broken, and scarred, and not the man I used to be, but I will do whatever it takes to remind her of the story of us.

My Review: 5 stars

It was raw and deep and truly amazing.
“To the men and women who have fought for our country:
We see you, we thank you, we remember you, and we will never let you go.”

I don’t even know where to start this book.
This book is heart wrenching and beautiful and breathtaking and amazing.
The story of Eli and Shelby is one of the most heart touching stories I have ever read.
Eli and Shelby fell in love at a young age but were never allowed to be together. Shelby came from a family of wealth and power while Eli came for my family just trying to get by.
When Eli left for the Marines, hearts were broken and lies were told.
What Shelby didn’t realize is that Eli would not come home. Eli would not survive the war.
So when she saw on the news one day that Eli had been rescued after being gone for over five years, her whole world turned upside down.
“I never should have left you. I’ll never stop loving you, even if you hate me for walking away.”
Eli never forgot about Shelby.
Shelby helped him survive his time with the enemy. His memories of her helped him get through each and every day. He knew it would not be easy coming home to her. He knew he broke her heart when he left but he was hoping he would be able to explain to her why he left the way he did.
Eli made promises and told lies to protect Shelby.
Shelby made promises and told lies to protect Eli.
But neither one of them know what the other has done.
With other people pulling the strings, can two people who are so broken find happiness? Can they heal each other or are they too far gone?
So let me tell you…… I cried so many times during this book. I had tears in my eyes before I was finished with the epilogue. That’s how I knew that this book was going to touch my heart.
Eli went through terrible times while he was captured for those five year and Shelby went through her own terrible times while he was away.
And let me tell you, holy plot twist.
Reading their story and seeing all the pain they both went through was heartbreaking. They each went through different challenges during those five years but neither of them knew that they were what was keeping the other one going.
This is honestly one of the best books I have read this year (2017) and maybe one of the best books I have ever read.
Tara did an amazing job telling the story and making you feel what the characters were feeling.

When Ashes Fall

It’s been said that you can’t love two men at the same time.
You can’t split your heart, soul, and body in half.
But I’m here to tell you, you can.
Dylan Cole is like ice, sharp and unpredictable, the thunder inside a tumultuous storm.
Smith Reid is warmth, soft and gentle, perfect like a sunny day.
Both are mine.
But I can have only one.
There are two sides to this tale.
I’m here to tell you mine.
If you think this story is about a cheater, you couldn’t be more wrong.

My Review: 5 stars

I went into this book blind. I didn’t even read the blurb before I started it. and WOW!! I am so glad I did it that way.
This book was AMAZING. It touched my heart in places that haven’t been touched by a book in a long time.
This book is told from 3 POV’s. You start with Alix (present day) and Dylan (the past) . Smith (present day) will enter later.
Alix is a 911 dispatcher and an ex-paramedic. She is living life the best she can. But Alix has demons. Alix has fears. Alix has lived though events that would tear others apart.
Dylan is a private airplane pilot and knew from the moment he saw Alix that she was what he wanted. Dylan and Alix are total opposites. He has money, she lives payday to pay day. He loves the expensive things in life, she loves the simple things. But they make it work. They love hard and fast.
Then there is Smith. Smith is a lawyer. He had a rough childhood but that made him who he is today. Smith and Alix randomly meet one night when his friend over-doses and she helps save him tell the ambulance arrives. They end up talking and decided to go on a date.
But things aren’t that simple for Alix. She knows she can never give Smith all of her because of Dylan.
This story is so much more than I could have asked for. This are smiles and tears. Love and pain. You get to see real emotions. You get to see real life situations. This book isn’t sugar coated. It’s real and raw.
This is the first book I have read were a main character is a 911 dispatcher. My husband is a dispatcher and they always go unnoticed.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.
After fifteen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.
I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.
All I wanted was for him to come back to me.
Then, Jackson Emery appeared.
He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.
We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too closed-off for me, and I was too damaged for him.
Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.
I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.
When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.
Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.
I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…
I prayed for him to be mine.
Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

My Review: 5 stars

Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster!!
We first meet Jackson when he is 10 years old. His mother is leaving his father and he is trying to figure out why.  When his mother left, she asked him one thing “Take care of your father”. And that is what Jackson did. For years, he took care of this father, through the bad times and the worst times. Living in a small town, Jackson was seen as the “troubled” kid. The kid from the wrong side of the track. But no one got to see the real Jackson. That is until Grace shows back up in town.
“They called me Satan’s spawn and it had bothered me when I was younger, but the older I got, the more I liked the ring of it. People had harbored an unnecessary fear of my father and me for fifteen or so years. They called us monsters, and after some time, we took on the role.”
Grace is from the same town as Jackson but has been gone for years. Grace has been married to Finn for the last 15 years. She has been though a lot in those year, a lot more than most women could handle. But after 15 years of marriage, Finn has decided he wants someone else. (and who he choses will make you mad!)
“My husband wasn’t a cheater except when it came to her. Her. I hated her, even though I didn’t know who she was. I hated her in a way I hadn’t known I could hate a stranger.”
When Grace crashes back into town for the summer, Jackson is there to catch her, even if he doesn’t want to in the beginning. Jackson isn’t nice. He’s rude and mean to Grace. Why? Because of her last name. Because of who her parents are.
Your heart will break for Grace when you learn her story. Your heart will break for Jackson when you see what he has lived with for almost his entire life. Your heart will break for both of them when the town starts talking. You know small towns, everyone talks.
“We were just two broken people, uninterested in being fixed.”
Jackson and Grace are opposites but they work. They balance each other out. Grace brings Jackson peace and Jackson makes Grace find herself for the first time.
Towards the end of this books, connections will start being made. You will start to understand different things that happened during the book and why those things happened. But those connections will also test Jackson and Grace. It will make them rethink what they have together. Is it just a summer fling or is it something real? If it is real love, can it survive the test it is about to be given?
This book will make you cry, laugh, cry some more, and then it will make you think about your life and re-evaluate how you are living your life.
Brittainy C. Cherry wrote an amazing novel. This book will give you the feels. It will touch your core and it will make you a better person.

Whispers and the Roars

When my eyes are closed, the monster can’t ever see me.
When I sing a song in my head, the monster can’t ever hear me.
When I pretend my bedroom is a playground where I play hide and seek, the monster can’t ever find me.
The darkness should frighten me.
I should worry I’ll find more monsters…monsters scarier than him.
But I’m not afraid.
It’s safe here.
When I’m inside of my head…
He. Can’t. Ever. Touch. Me.
Whispers and the Roars is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. The abuse written in this story is graphic and not glossed over which could be upsetting to some. Proceed with caution. This story is NOT for everyone.

My Review: 5 stars (possible spoilers)

So this review is going to be a bit different than some of my other reviews because this book was just so amazingly good that I will probably just ramble about the book as much as I can without giving away the plot twist.
Unconditional love, understanding, and ultimate dedication are the themes of this novel. – K. Webster
Kady is a twenty-nine year old woman that is living with demons from her past. She had a terrible childhood and lost her mother when she was young. Her father was abusive and she endured more than anyone, especially a child, should have too.
People in the town judge her. They think that she’s crazy. They think she’s a monster.
She just a broken girl who is trying to get by.
As you read Kady’s story, you learn about the people in her life that keep her going but you also learn about the people that scare her.
Officer Joe, Agatha, Presley, and Whiskers are the people (and cat) that keep Kady safe. They make her feel at ease and she loves them all.
Then you have Bones. He is her best friend and the person she leans on the most for support. He is there for her anytime she needs him and he never lets her down (except for that one time).
But then you have the people that scare her; Norman, Pascale, and Kenneth. Bones helps keep them away and Yeo used to before he left.
Years ago, her boyfriend Yeo left to go to college. She has refused to talk to him since then, even though she was the one who pushed him to leave. She knows he can do better than her. His family doesn’t understand her and what she has been through and she doesn’t want them judging him for being with her. She just wants what is best for Yeo and she believes that she isn’t what is best for him.
Yeo is now back. After finishing school and becoming a doctor, Yeo wants his life with Kady back but he knows it is going to be a hard fight to get it. He has been keeping up with how she is doing from Bones and Agatha but she always avoids him when he comes to town. He knows Kady thinks he can do better but he only wants her. He was only ever wanted her. Yeo plans to do whatever is needed to get Kady back into his life.
“Love and my moral compass duel in the dark night. Love is more fierce and unstoppable and fucking crazy. Love always wins. That moral compass never stood a chance.”
Overall thoughts:
WOW!! What a book. I can honestly say that in the beginning, I wasn’t totally feeling the book. I kept reading because I know K. Webster’s work and I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed.
About 46% into the book I started to get very confused. I was like “What in the world is going on?” Then at about 60% I was like “I totally understand now!”
I never saw it coming. Like ever. But once it was reviled, everything made sense.
K. Webster is a genius. This story was amazing but it was also such a hard story to read. I takes you places that no-one would ever willing go and shows you what some people go through. This book is dark and can make you feel uneasy but it is totally worth it.
I wish I could put into words how much I loved this book but words cannot describe how this book made me feel.
At first I was only going to give this book like 3 1/2 stars but then I read the plot twist and everything made sense so…….I give this book 5 huge stars!!!
