Blurb:
Monsters come in many forms.
Some want shiny new toys to play with—others want blood.
Mona Walters dreams of adventure, of a world beyond the shoreline she’s confined to. She yearns for vibrancy in her dull, mundane existence, but succumbs to the bleakness.
Until the necklace her sister wore the night she was brutally murdered shows up on her door wrapped in a neat bow, fueling her to run away and seek out the person responsible for stealing her sister’s life.
Mona wished for more—for color in her gray world.
What she didn’t realize was just how much more she would get.
And that the world outside her own was soaked in red—blood red.
The world she dreamed of is made of nightmares.
A rich, influential world of two brothers—and once they have her in their sights, they plan to keep her there.
Her father kept her secluded for a reason.
Be careful what you wish for.
There’s a thief out there, and he’s coming for Mona’s heart.
My Review: 5 stars
**This book has some scenes that may be hard to read**
This book is part of the Sinisters Fairytale Collection but it’s not so much “fairytale”. This books is kind of themed after Moana but there isn’t actual ‘magic” in it.
Mona as lived on the island her entire life. She has never left it and knows she will never be allowed to leave it. With her father in charge of the island, it is her duty to be in charge once he dies. And it seems it will also be her duty to marry Eli, her crush. But that is not the life Mona wants.
But Mona’s sister Clara has been off the island. She sneaks on and off. But she knows if she gets caught, she will be punished. She will have to be “cleansed” (A cleansing scene will happen in the book with someone else and it is hard to read but very important to the story).
Clara gives Mona a necklace to which she has a matching one and tells her she will always be with her.
Years later, Mona receives a package , it’s her sisters necklace. But how? Clara was killed years ago while she was off the island.
Mona is determined to know what happed to her sister. When given the chance to leave, she decides to take it.
Mona finds the Ward brothers. They are the ones who are supposed to be able to help her. But will they? They do not like people from “Cult Island” and they have their reasons. But when they realize that she is Clara’s sister, everything changes.
Mona, Colt, and Cash form this weird bond. They want to not like her. They want to stay away. But they can’t. They also want to solve the murder of her sister.
But who is the killer? Will they find out? Is it one of them? Will they die in the process?
This was a really good book. I love anything that has to do with cults. It has always interested me how someone can make others think a certain way and hold that much power over people.
I liked how this book had touches of Moana but it did not try and rewrite that story. This is a story all on it’s own.
I enjoyed the story line. I enjoyed the characters. I enjoyed it all.

About the Author:
Ker Dukey, Is based in the UK, where she lives with her husband and small children and also their beloved Goldendoodle, Murphy (who has yet to discover he isn’t, in fact, a human)
When she’s not lost in the world of her characters or being Mum, Ker likes to read and catch up with her followers on social media.
My books all tend to be darker romance, an edge of your seat, angst-filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles, prepare for the unexpected.
“I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bedtime stories with my sisters growing up. My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made of light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.
When I’m not lost in the world of characters, I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum, and that comes first in my life, but when I do get down time, I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.Come find me on facebook where i love interacting with my readers.”
